Hi, my name is Daniel Cavarretta and I am honored that you are taking the time out of your day to learn a little bit more about me! I am a passionate personal trainer and nutritional advisor who loves to help people achieve their fitness goals in a sustainable manner. I am a natural bodybuilder who enjoys rock climbing, powerlifting and learning in my free time. Here is my story:
My athletic journey began as a scrawny adolescent. For much of my youth I suffered with Crohn's disease which prevented me from growing and gaining weight for multiple years.
In the summer of 2008, I received surgery and sent my disease into remission. At this point in my life, I wanted to grow bigger and stronger. I wanted to be bigger because I constantly felt insecure about how tall the people around me were. I wanted to get stronger because I was always infatuated by muscle and strength.
In the following years I managed to gain over 50 pounds and grow four inches. While my height is still no where near my peers, the muscle mass I grew helped give me self-confidence and provided me with a sense of accomplishment over the years.
I have been exercising and learning ever since in an effort to continually add lean muscle and lift more weight. Although my efforts were not super consistent due to injuries, school activities, and other conflicting life events.
When I was about to graduate high school I found myself lost again. Similar to the time when I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease I felt inadequate. Things in my life were not going as well as I would have liked and I was not feel ready for college.
Going back and forth on what I wanted to do, I finally decided to make my passion for fitness into a job. When I turned 18 I sat for the National Strength and Conditioning Association personal training exam (NSCA-CPT) and passed with flying colors. I accepted a job at a local chain gym and slowly started to gain experience.
I started off with zero personal training clients and had to slowly prove to the gym members that I was a competent personal trainer. This was a difficult task as I could not wear a mask to cover my 18-year-old baby face. However, the members started to learn about my knowledge and enthusiasm and accepted me as any other adult.
Before I knew it I found myself working as the fitness manager for the commercial gym. While it was a good experience for me to act as the manager, I sometimes regret accepting the job. I learned about the corruption that goes on behind these large gyms. All they really cared about was how much personal training I could sell; not how many people I could help. I felt they almost had a desire to try and screw people over with their lovely personal training 'contracts.'
I eventually stepped down from the position and went back to focusing on personal training. This was about the time when I knew that I was ready for college and to start a new life. I submitted my deposit for enrollment at Elon University where I currently attend as a full-time student. I am majoring exercise science and plan to pursue a Ph.D. in exercise psychology after graduating.
Due to the strong connection that I made with many of my clients, I started Evolution Training System as a way to continue to help people. Evolution Training System is mainly based off online personal training. I build workout programs, nutritional regimens, and keep people accountable as they pursue their fitness goals.
I design the workouts with the weights, repetitions, and sets and send them to their phone. They are right there with a video demonstrating how to do the exercise.
While online training does have its drawbacks, there are many advantages. One thing that bugged me about personal training was how expensive it would get. If you wanted to train with me for one hour, four times a week, it would cost around $800. For most people this is not something they can afford.
Also, there was that population in the gym who knew how to exercise but could not program anything successfully. Online training allows me to help guide them through the process to reach their full potential.
Online training is not perfect and is not for everyone. That's why for people who are interested in training I require a short application to see if we are compatible. What I bring to the table that is unique to other trainers is my ability to listen to a client's desires and adjust their program to them. Not everyone needs to eat the same amount of calories; not everyone needs to squat; not everyone wants to go to the gym everyday. I listen to your concerns and will try my best to find a way for you to achieve your goals!
